Marvel Comics' latest Marvel Knights project will see Captain America and Black Panther joining forces during World War II. Reginald Hudlin (Black Panther) and Denys Cowan’s (The Question) Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers miniseries will tell how the two characters first encountered each other in the 1940s.

The role of Black Panther is played by Azzuri the Wise, who is grandfather to T'Challa, the modern-day bearer of the title.

"World War II is when Black Panther and Captain America met," Hudlin told Newsarama. " It’s also a rich era, with characters like Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos, the Red Skull, Baron Strucker, and other more obscure but interesting characters."

"Very little surprises this Golden Age Black Panther and very little impresses him. However, he's impressed by Captain America," added Cowan.

The series will debut in 2010.
