This is the front cover artwork for issue #11 of Marvel's Doctor Who comic.
Penciled and inked by Dave Gibbons in 1985 on Bristol Board. The issue was released in August 1985. There are some notes for the colourist along the bottom of the board, most likely written by Gibbons himself. The bottom of the board has also been signed by Jim Shooter, the Editor in Chief at the time, along with Gibbons' signature on the artwork.
The page measures 430x280mm.
Gibbons is best known for his collaborations with writer Alan Moore, which include the miniseries Watchmen and the Superman story “For the Man Who Has Everything”. He was an artist for 2000 AD, for which he contributed a large body of work from its first issue in 1977. He has worked for Marvel, DC, Vertigo, Dark Horse and more.
He became the lead artist for the Doctor Who comics in 1979, illustrating the comic strips from 1-69, only missing 4 issues during this time. These strips were later reprinted by Marvel in the US monthly comic of Doctor Who, for which Gibbons also illustrated the covers.
