John Higgins

British comic artist and writer John Higgins has worked on some of the biggest titles that reside on almost every comic fans bookshelf; Watchmen, Batman: The Killing Joke and copious amounts of 2000AD to name but a few.

Johns first comic book art was published in Brainstorm Comix in 1975, his first cover came in '77 for 2000 AD No. 43 and by 1981 he was getting regular work at 2000 AD and creating covers for Marvel UK.

In the mid-eighties he joined the 'British invasion' of artist making their name in the American market, notably colouring Dave Gibbon's art on Alan Moore's Watchmen, and Brian Bolland's art for Batman: The Killing Joke. His work in the American market increased over the years, with work coming from independent publishers such as Darkhorse, working in gouache for 'The Thing from Another World" proving his abilities in mixed media are as prevalent as his skills with colour and words.

"While a great illustration almost inevitably tells a story, John's storytelling skills extend far beyond single images."
