Staff art picks - 'The Shat'

We have some amazing artwork at World of Superheroes, like this original pencil drawing of the Star Trek Crew by Robert Bailey, picked out by the big boss Steve.

"I met William Shatner at Florida Comicon a few years ago. He was charisma personified and flirted outrageously with my wife, who couldn’t have been more thrilled. If you want to reduce a mature, sophisticated woman to a giggling schoolgirl, introduce her to 'The Shat'.

Unfortunately, I’m old enough to remember, with great fondness, the original TV series from the 1960s, and my adult life has been illuminated by the Star Trek movies, especially The Final Frontier, where Kirk delivers one of the greatest lines in film history: "What does God need with a spaceship?"

This is why I adore this piece by legendary American artist Robert Bailey, which hangs beside my desk at HQ.

Not only is it signed by the artist and William Shatner, but the actor also wrote "Space the final frontier" across the bottom.

It’s big, it’s bold, it’s one of a kind. What’s not to like?"
