Wonder Woman is celebrating her 80th birthday this year on October 21st 80 years after her first appearance in All Star Comic #8 in 1941.
Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman has been one of the most inspiration characters in history not just in the DC Universe. Her philosophy of truth, compassion and peace has inspired her character to take on powerful people and villains over the years who have threatened humanity.
To celebrate DC are releasing some new collectibles and comics in honour of their champion of truth including the Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Spectacular, a hundred-page collectible keepsake and tribute to the Amazonian hero. The book will feature original art and stories from some of the best-known artists and storytellers in comics, including Eisner Award-winning artist Yanick Paquette and will be available from the anniversary. A miniatures game, an induction into the Comic-Con Character Hall of Fame in a virtual ceremony via the comic-con museum youtube channel. It's doesn't stop their DC are pulling out all the stocks with a Teen Titans Go! episode starring Wonder Woman, commemorative comic releases, free editions and new series launches including Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons, Wonderful Women of the World and more all releasing through the Autumn months!
In honour of the most respected female hero we have chosen three of our favourite Wonder Woman pieces in our store.
Wonder Woman #13 Slabbed CBCS 3.5This is our oldest slabbed Wonder Woman comic in our store released in 1945, only 4 years after she was first introduced in the All Star Comics. It's also got a stunning cover! DC: Wonder Woman Supreme by Robert Bailey
A beautiful sketch of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman by art legend Robert Bailey. Signed, framed and comes with an authentication certificate from World of Superheroes CEO Steve Eyre.
Dianna Prince is Wonder Woman Canvas Print By MUTE
Last but not least is this amazing oil painting by local artist MUTE of Lynda Carter who played the hero in the 70's TV series.
See is also a fan favourite of our very own CEO Steve Eyre who shared his thoughts on meeting the Wonder Woman icon:
“As a red blooded teenager growing up in the 1970s, the Wonder Woman TV series had quite an effect on me. Miss World USA Lynda Carter as DCs premier Super heroine in that costume was almost more than a young man could bear. Many years later in 2012 while attending New York Comicon as President of World of superheroes, my wife and I were given complimentary tickets to a dinner show at B B Kings night club, featuring none other than Lynda Carter, doing what she loves best, singing. Sat there that night, I was a lovestruck teenager again, not only was she still impossibly gorgeous, she sang like an angel. It got better. We were granted a backstage audience with her, although I must admit, my wife and Lynda did most of the chatting as I was a quivering speechless wreck. Lynda, in contrast was articulate, gracious and funny. A wonderful person, a wonderful artiste, truly a Wonder-woman They say never meet your heroes. Well I did and loved every moment.”
The original oil painting and prints are both available in our store.

Over the weekend DC released three new movie trailers in their DC Fandome for their up-coming Batman, Flash and Black Adam movies next year.
The Batman looks as if it's going to be the darkest Batman we've seen yet with Robert Patterson taking on the defender of Gotham during his early days as Batman. A new Batman evidently means a new cast including Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Paul Dano as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commisioner Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred. I was sceptical when Ben Affleck took on the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but he brought a great Bruce Wayne to take on Superman and lead the Justice League. He was due to carry on in this movie as well as co-write the story, however, he decided to leave and Director Matt Reeves took over and based the storyline around a younger Batman. It was due to be released last year but due to the covid pandemic it was pushed back to March 4th 2022.
Next year DC will introduce villain Black Adam, a DC antihero spin-off from Shazam! who's powers come from the same magic as Shazam! Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who has been said to take on the character since 2014 but Not much is known about the storyline, however, we know that this movie will introduce Hawkman and Doctor Fate into the DCEU. Due out July 29th 2022.
The last DC movie due next year is The Flash movie which will bring back Ezra Miller as Flash in DC up-coming movie which will send Barry Allen through time to try and change the past when his Mother was killed. Not too much is known about the story but this latest teaser trailer definitely confirms that it is influenced by the Flash Point storyline. Ben Affleck is said to return as well as 80's Batman legend Michael Keaton in probably the most exciting retelling of a Flash storyline in comics. Due out November 4th 2022 this is undoubtedly a must see next year!
As always check out our DC collection including Flash and Batman memorabilia in our store.
