News

We have recently acquired a Superman #1 with a CGC restored grade 6.0.

First issues are our favourite key issues and we were very excited to gain this gem from another trader. To carry on after our Top 5 Superman memorabilia we thought we'd share our newest DC addition to our collection. This Golden Age issue, first published in 1939 reveals the origin of Superman's story.

A recently sold Superman #1 CGC 4.0 went for $815,000.00 at auction.

So If this is worth $815,000.00, how much is this worth, consigned to us for sale this week.

Traditionally on classic key books we would expect a restored copy to be worth around 35% of a raw book. Is this a £300,000 comic book or is our thinking flawed? Let us have your thoughts.

NOT for sale yet but if you're interested, please email our team at hero@worldofsuperheroes.com.

There's nothing better than going through a job lot of comics bought at auction and finding a hidden gem.

Yesterday we uncovered what is purported to be the rarest comic book in existence. League of Extraordinary Gentleman #5 was recalled because it contained a controversial advert with only a few issues escaping to the UK. Furthermore it is a flawless copy we think will slab 9.6/9.8 so if you would like to make an offer to buy it raw before slabbing, feel free.

There are key comics and then there are Grail Comics, Amazing Fantasy #15 along with DC's Action Comics #1 fit in that very small category of comics.

We are hard core geeks and collectors at heart and it saddens us to put this gorgeous slab out into the universe but when trading comics is your business we wouldn't have any money if we buy without selling. We made the hard decision to put our Amazing Fantasy #15 Vol 1. with a CGC grade of 3.0 available to buy in our store and ebay store Worldofsuperheroes_Vault.

This key issue encloses the 1st appearance of Spider-Man in a Marvel comic and was first published in 1962. Marvel legends Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko collaborated on this cover, creating the first silver age Marvel comic and it is probably the most iconic image in Marvel Comics' history. We see Peter Parker fighting bad guys and saving the day as the friendly neighbour Spider-Man long before the multi-verse, symbiotes and Civil Wars which Spider-Man has inspired and joined together with his fellow Marvel heroes over the years.

Despite the low grade, this grail issue is priced at a whooping £44,000.00 or $55,237.60 due to its rarity. Feel free to email us at hero@worldofsuperheroes.com for anymore info or if you'd understandably like to see before you buy we'd happily show you the comic in person at our HQ.

Despite returning to voice the character, Ewan McGregor hasn't put on his robe as Obi-Wan Kenobi since Revenge of the Sith way back in 2005, until now.

Some of Disney+'s recent series's have had mixed reviews from fans, mainly from Marvel, however it seems Star Wars are giving fans what they want with a very successful Mandalorian series and the current Obi-Wan Kenobi series now streaming on Disney+.

The original series will start 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: III -  Revenge of the Sith and will return Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen as a young Darth Vader.

We are big Star Wars junkies here at World of Superheroes and have the memorabilia to prove it!!

We have a stunning collection of artwork, posters, memorabilia, statues and comics from the Star Wars franchise.

- Signed Robert Bailey original artwork from the original trilogy from the 1970's and the more recent Mandalorian Disney+ series.

- Posters from all three trilogies, one sheet teaser poster from 1995 re-release of Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.

- Signed photos from Daisy Ridley and others from The Force awakens and of course our Darth Vader signed helmet and photo by the late David Prowse.

- Star Wars: Compulsion Studios Limited Edition Pewter Set
