The first big screen Spider-Man was Toby McGuire but I asked Mute to paint the first live action Spidey that I watched in the ABC Cinemas Saturday morning picture show in the 1970s so here it is. Mark Hammond played Peter Parker and his wall crawling alter ego in the short lives US tv series, it was naff, the special effects were lame and Stan Lee, Spider-Man’s co creator hated it but to a young superhero fan who had only ever seen Spidey in a comic or a cartoon, sitting in the dark with my Westlers Hotdog and Kia-Ora orange juice, it was simply heaven. Includes an authentication certificate from The Sterling Collection signed by Steve Eyre.
