All Star Wars fans are aware that May 4th is Star Wars Day but not all will be aware that on that day, the Star Wars collection of the late David (DARTH VADER ) Prowse will go under the auctioneers hammer in his home town of Bristol.
It will attract frenzied bidding from around the world, inevitably leaving thousands of fans frustrated at being outbid in the auction fever. If you are one of these unfortunate souls, fear not, we can help. We have our own collection, signed by David, exclusively for World of Superheroes.
A few years ago we put on a convention, hosted by Sheffield University and guess who our special guest was. You’ve guessed it Mr Grumpy himself David Prowse. I spent a lot of time with him over that weekend and it is fair to say David was a hard man to love much like the character he immortalised in the Star Wars films, although much less evil. Negotiations to get him were like pulling teeth but eventually contracts were exchanged and there he was, in sunny Sheffield. Even a few years ago he struggled with his mobility so there were logistical hoops we had to jump through to make him comfortable.
I had known David for many years before this, meeting him at Comic conventions all over the world and even as a younger man his mobility wasn’t helped by carrying a breeze block sized chip on each shoulder about his perceived treatment by one George Lucas, but that’s a story for another day.
When he was ensconced behind his signing desk at Woscon, he was professional, even courteous to some fans, and as part of our agreement, signed us many items of Darth Vader memorabilia which can be found, along with our collection of Star Wars Memorabilia on our wondrous on line store.
Rest in Peace David. Knowing you was an experience.
