We have three very unique pieces of Marvel history given to us by our good friend Jason who served in Afganistan.

Most people won't know about these special 'POGS' and their worth. The coins shown is actually money, just like ordinary nickels, dimes and quarters in America. But, unlike regular coins in America, they are not legal tender. Printing currency is against the law so the AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Services, the WalMart for the military) at the direction of the Department of Defense created these as "gift certificates" for use by service members participating in Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and ISAF (Afghanistan). They are commonly referred to as POGS with them being similar to the popular 90's cardboard collectibles and the reason they are given to service members is basically because change would be too heavy to transport.

These special POGS are not for sale but we thought we'd share them with you. They will be kept safe here at the World of Superheroes HQ.

Some days it's too hot to be out in the sun or you could have a full week of thunderstorms and kids often want to get messy and demand constant sweet treats. These Venom Cupcakes look perfect for young children to have a go at! They are meant to be messy unlike a lot of the perfect cakes online. And they will love surprising their family and friends with them!

The cupcakes which I've found on Pinterest shows a very simple way to make a unique Venom style cupcake using a basic chocolate cupcake recipe, red M&Ms, Black icing and white buttons.

I will definitely be making these with my kids over the holidays to get excited for the Venom: Let there Be Carnage release in September. Or you could even make carnage ones with red icing!

We have some epic HULK artwork in our store, from his original appearance in Marvels comics, to the 1970's Lou Ferrigno television shows and the present day HULK played by Mark Ruffalo.

The strongest Avenger is one of Marvels most successful characters who is a highly respected scientist in biochemistry named Bruce Banner. After a gamma radiation accident he uncontrollably turns in to an unbelievably strong being aka the HULK if he becomes too angry.

HULK has been portrayed by different actors over the years but Body Builder turned actor Lou Ferrigno took to playing the green goliath in the 1970's CBS television series. Despite the show seeming quite cheesy compared to the insane CGI animation in the 21st century we're all about nostalgia here at World of Superheroes and couldn't help but buy some very special artwork of the first HULK on screen. We have acquired two canvases from our good friends at Castle galleries signed by the late Stan Lee and Lou Ferrigno.

Stan Lee & Lou Ferrigno Signed: The Incredible Hulk #307 Box Canvas Framed
£3,000

Stan Lee & Lou Ferrigno Signed: Hulk 152 Box Canvas Framed
£3,000

We have an impressive collection of Robert Bailey artwork ranging from Star Wars to DC to Marvel and we have three of Bailey's sketches of and signed by Lou Ferrigno as well.

The Hulk: Raw Strength by Robert Bailey (Signed by Lou Ferrigno)
£2,450

The Hulk: Avenging An Injustice by Robert Bailey (Signed by Lou Ferrigno)
£2,500

The Hulk: Outside and Outraged by Robert Bailey (Signed by Lou Ferrigno)
£2,500

Check out all our HULK artwork and comics in store.

The summer holidays are upon us and parents often dread this time of year as kids have weeks of no school but have no fear!

I've had a quick search and found some ideas to keep your kiddos busy during this tiresome time. Each week I will post an idea to have ago at which may pass a bit of time on those days you stay at home.

Week 1 - Outdoor Obstacle Course
People like to fill the days during the holidays going out but it can be expensive and some days you need to stay at home for one reason or another. Making fun outside if you have a bit of a garden can be easier than you think. It encourages kids to have some control, exercise, improve co-ordination and be creative with their own ideas.

- String or ribbon for Spider-Man webs.
- Before you recycle those cardboard boxes paint, build and destroy them as good guys or bad guys!
- Tunnels or pool noodles are a great one to add to an obstacle course.
- Cones or homemade obstacles are great for racers or obstacles just running or with footballs or bikes and scooters.

Just some examples but try and be creative and create your own ideas. Check out next weeks idea to keep you going!

It was always our intention to sell slabbed comics but we changed our minds for two reasons:

  1. The turnaround time on getting CGC to slab comics has moved from weeks to months and this is not going to improve any time soon.
  2. We have realised that the market for raw comics is larger than the slabbed market. The majority of collectors do not have any slabbed books at all.

Because of this we have decided to release some of the high-grade silver age comics, previously scheduled for slabbing, for sale. Fortunately, in our President Steve Eyre, we have an industry recognised expert in the grading and valuation of comic books, in-house.  His 40 years of experience means that the grades of the comics we sell will be an accurate reflection of the condition.

Check out all the available raw comics in our store.
