Our Top 5 Superhero Christmas Editions


Over the years, both Marvel and DC have used the oversize Treasury Edition Format and graphic novels to bring together a compendium of previously published festive stories or for one off festive tales.

Here's are our Top 5 Christmas editions released over the decades.

5: 1976 GIANT SUPERHERO HOLIDAY GRAB BAG.
With an awesome cover by Gil Kane, this winter warmer featured stories featuring Spider-Man, the Hulk, Nick Fury and Doctor Strange. Although most of the stories weren’t specifically Christmas tales, they were all tinged with that feel good sentimentality.

4: 1975 GIANT SUPERHERO HOLIDAY GRAB BAG.
This one did contain Christmas stories featuring Marvels most popular heroes. Check out the tale of “ Spider-Man goes mad” from Amazing Spider-Man 28 by the classic team of Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, co creators of Spider-Man.

3: 2011. BATMAN. NOEL.
This dark and stylish graphic novel by writer artist Lee Bermijo takes its inspiration from Dickens, “A Christmas Carol”.
Read in front of a warm fire on Christmas Eve for a real treat.

2: 1998. SUPERMAN: PEACE ON EARTH.
Story by Paul Dini and sumptuous artwork by Alex Ross, this beautiful book encapsulates not only the spirit of Christmas but also the essence of the selfless Man of Steel.

1: 1974 GIANT SUPERHERO HOLIDAY GRAB BAG.
With a timeless cover by Romita and Buscema, this is surely the coolest Festive collection ever containing the most heartwarming Marvel tale ever, “Have yourself a Sandman little Christmas” a reprint of Marvel Team Up #1 featuring Spidey and the Human Torch facing off against Sandman.
